Phoenix, AZ- In an important game in the PacWest standings and the NCAA playoff picture, Chaminade took care of the `Lopes of Grand Canyon University in four games 24-30, 33-31, 30-27, 30-23.
The first game served as a wake-up call of sorts as Grand Canyon took game one, 30-24. The Antelopes out-hit Chaminade .357 to .306 for the game. That would be the last game that the Lady Swords would let that happen.
CUH won an intense second game, hitting a match high .413 and winning 33-31. The Swords kept it going in game three and for hitting .368 and .410 respectively in game three and four wins.
Chaminade had four players with double figure kills, led by Vanja Radanovic and Trina Kauliakamoa with 19 a piece. Evelyn Bluthenthal added 13 kills and Brittnee Fonnesbeck added 11 in the four game win. Vanja Radanovic continued her breakout freshman season with nine digs to go along with a scorching hot .613 hitting percentage.
The Swords outdug the `Lopes 96-74, with Marijana Stanic leading the way with 17 digs on the evening.
With the win, Chaminade improves to 13-4 on the year, 8-2 in conference play. Grand Canyon falls to 13-12, 5-6 in conference play. The teams take the floor again this evening, Tuesday, October 17th at Grand Canyon. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
