Honolulu, HI - In the first game of the 2006 Hoop-N-Surf tournament, Chaminade fell to the Tigers of Holy Family University by a score of 83-53.
Junior Marian Murphy led Chaminade University in scoring with 23 points, Murphy shot 8-14 from the field, including a career high 7 three pointers. Samantha Saito reached double figures, scoring 10 points to go along with 3 assists.
Chaminade struggled to get the offense going in the first half falling behind by 31 at the break. The Swords came out in the second half and shot a blistering 58 percent from behind the arc outscore the Tigers 31-30.
Melissa Brooks led the Tigers with 16 points, while Megan Bauer pulled down 7 rebounds.
With the loss, the Swords fall to 1-6 on the year, while Holy Family improves to 6-1 overall.
Chaminade is back in action on Wednesday, December 20th at 4:00 PM for its second game of the Hoop-N-Surf tournament. The Swords will take on Minnesota State Moorehead at Kilauea District Park.
