Swords fall to BYU-Hawaii On The Road 87-82

Laie, HI- Despite having four players in double figures in scoring, CUH dropped the first of four meetings in the 2006-07 season against BYU-Hawaii.

Chaminade fell behind in the first half down by as many as 15. The Swords battled back to close the gap, 43-51 at half. The Swords stayed close due to some hot shooting, hitting 12-25 in the first half. It was the Seasiders that controlled the rebounding battle (29-11), led by Latoya Wily with 10 offensive rebounds in the first half.

The Swords fought back in the second half, and took the lead at the 11:44 mark 66-64 on a three pointer by Katherine Carlisle. The game seesawed back and forth with no team leading by more than two until the 5:00 minute mark when the Seasiders spread the lead to four and never gave it up.

Chaminade was led by Brittnee Fonnesbeck with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Simrin Cummins scored a career high 21 points. Katherine Carlisle and Samantha Saito finished with double figures each putting up 10 points.

BYU-Hawaii was led by Latoya Wily with a double double, 25 points and 16 rebounds.

The Swords are back in action next Sunday, December 17th to take on Central Washington University, 4:00 PM at McCabe Gym. Chaminade falls to 1-4 on the year.
