Honolulu, HI- For the third time this season, Chaminade and BYU-Hawaii met in a highly competitive game in PacWest conference play. This time, the Seasiders came out victorious, 66-64.
The game started out all BYU, as did the whole first half, as BYU-Hawaii took a 37-22 lead to the break. Chaminade came storming back in the second half, taking the lead 60-59 with 3 minutes left in regulation. The comeback bid was not to be however, after Eric Boyce made 1 of 2 free throws for the Seasiders, Chris Reaves 3 pt attempt missed and BYU went home with the victory.
Chris Powell led the Silverswords with 18 points and 13 rebounds in defeat. Chaminade went through an uncharacteristically poor shooting night, going 0-11 from the arc in the first half and shot 13% for the game from the arc.
With the loss, Chaminade falls to 14-7 on the year. BYU-Hawaii improves to 11-8 with the victory. The teams meet again Friday night in Laie.
