The Chaminade Silverswords came out strong with a decisive win at the 13th annual Hawaiian Style Classic in Hilo, Hawaii. Chaminade beat Wheeling Jesuit (WV)
in three games 30-14, 30-22, and 30-27.
Coach Glennie Adams showcased her team with the strong attack of swing hitters Trina Kauliakamoa, 13 kills, and Evelyn Bluthenthal with 15 kills on a .406 hitting percentage. Adams also displayed senior setter Tamara Kauliakamoa with distribution of 35 assists.
Chelsea Powell led the defense with 11 digs, while both Lila Sapolu and Trina Kauliakamoa added 10. CUH also was big up front, combining for 13 blocks, four by redshirt freshman Vanja Radanovic.
The Lady Swords improve to 1-0 on the year with the win, while Wheeling Jesuit falls to 0-1.
Tomorrow Chaminade looks to continue their winning ways with a 9:00 a.m. contest against Seattle Pacific University, followed by a 5p.m. showing against the Mustangs of Western New Mexico University.
