Chaminade Falls in Consolation Versus UH-Hilo

Waipio, HI- In the consolation match of the Hawaii Challenge Cup, the Vulcans of UH-Hilo defeated Chaminade by a score of 2-0.

The Swords played hard and had some chnaces throughout, winning balls in midfield and using the foot and speed of Marc Contee to bother the Vulcans defense. Contee forced Marc Fournier to make saves in both halves of play.

The Vulcans scored their first goal half way into the first half off the foot of Gene Okamura. They tacked on an insurance goal with just under 15 minutes left by forward Drew Geis. Sword goalkeeper, Darren Smith, made 16 saves and helped to control the game from the back.

With the loss, CUH falls to 0-3, while UH-Hilo improvs to 1-1 on the year. The Swords are back in action on Wednesday, September 13th at 11:00 AM against Seattle University at Varsity Field.
