Lady Swords Sweep HPU

Honolulu, HI- In a rivalry game with Pac West conference implications, the Silverswords defeated HPU handily in three games 30-18, 30-21, 30-23.

Chaminade took control from the outset, taking game one 30-18 while hitting a red-hot .457 on the attack. The Sea Warriors made games two and three closer, but did not have enough to get back in the match. Game three was a see-saw battle two-thirds of the way through, but Chaminade finished off HPU 30-23 to end the match.

CUH was led by Trina Kauliakamoa with 11 kills, while Evelyn Bluthenthal added a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs with a hitting percentage of .600. Tamara Kauliakamoa added 42 assists running the offense, while the Lady Swords also out dug HPU defensively 30-26.

The SeaWarriors were led by senior Barbara Martin who added 13 kills in the loss. Antje Buskies added 15 assists.

The Swords improve to 7-3 on the year, 2-1 in the PacWest. HPU falls to 2-9 on the year. Chaminade next faces Notre Dame de Namur in their first ever Pac West meeting, next Wednesday at McCabe Gym. First serve is set for 7:30 PM.
