Swords Take Care of BYU-Hawaii 83-69

Honolulu, HI- In a televised game on OC16, Chaminade University defeated the Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii 83-69.

The game was tight throughout, but a Chaminade run midway through the second half had the Silverswords up ten, and it was a lead CUH would never relinquish.

The Swords were able to handle BYU-Hawaii's physical defense and shot 62% from the floor. CUH shot 50% from three on 14 attempts and 78% from the line. Stewart Kussler led the way for the Swords with 21 points and 6 rebounds. The junior connected on 8 of 12 field goal attempts, including 2 of 3 from long range.Marko Kolaric had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Zack Whiting added 20 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals in the win.

Chaminade out-rebounded BYU-Hawaii 34-24, and had 18 assists to the Seasiders 11.

Freshman Lucas Alves led BYU-Hawaii with 18 points on 7-13 from the floor.

Chaminade improves to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play. BYU-Hawaii falls to 11-5 and 3-1 in conference play.

Chaminade entertains BYU-Hawaii again on January 13th in McCabe Gym. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
