Swords Fall to BYU-Hawaii 70-64

Honolulu, HI- CUH drops the second of four meetings in the 2006-07 season against BYU-Hawaii.

Chaminade came out strong in the first half leading by as many as eight. The Seasiders battled back to close the gap, only down one at half. BYU-Hawaii came out strong in the second half, claiming the lead with over eighteen minutes to go and never giving it up. It was the Seasiders that controlled the rebounding battle (57-30), led by Latoya Wily with eighteen.

The Swords were able to battle back from a twelve point deficit to cut the Seasider lead to as few as three with less that thirty seconds on the clock, but the free throw shooting of the Seasiders proved to deadly, sinking five of six from the stripe in the final twenty three seconds finished off the Swords 70-64

Chaminade was led by Brittnee Fonnesbeck with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Katherine Carlisle knocked down 12 and pulled in 5 boards of her own. Samantha Saito, Simrin Cummins and Marian Murphy finished with 8 points each.

BYU-Hawaii was led by Latoya Wily with a double-double, 23 points and 18 rebounds. The Swords are back in action This Saturday, January 13, for a rematch with BYU-Hawaii, 12:00 PM at McCabe Gym. Chaminade falls to 2-10 and BYU-Hawaii improves to 4-10 on the year.
