Swords Fall to BYU-Hawaii 76-68

Honolulu, HI- In their second meeting in three days, BYU-Hawaii defeated Chaminade in a hotly contested affair at McCabe Gym.

BYU-Hawaii came out on fire; hitting five of their first six three's to gain the early advantage. The Seasiders were up 11 on a Trenson Akana three, 27-16. The Swords continued to battle against the physical Seasider defense and were down 50-41 at the half.

BYU-Hawaii had no answer for Zack Whiting, as the senior had 29 points on numerous fouls at the basket. Chaminade, however, was not hot from outside, managing just 3 threes on 17 attempts for the afternoon.

The Seasiders won the battle of the glass, 41-33 and had 14 offensive rebounds. Marko Kolaric added 12 points, 5 blocks, 4 rebounds and 3 steals for CUH. No other Swords scored in double digits.

BYU-Hawaii was led by Eric Boyce with 17 points on the afternoon.

Chaminade falls to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play. BYU-Hawaii improves to 12-5 and 4-1 in conference play.

Chaminade heads to California to play Notre Dame de Namur on Wednesday, January 17th. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
