Hilo, HI- Chaminade gave UH-Hilo all it could handle; unfortunately it wasn't enough as the Vulcans defeated the Silverswords in four games 28-30, 32-30, 30-27, 30-26.
Junior All Pac West performer Trina Kauliakamoa led the way with 18 kills and 12 digs, while standout freshman Samantha Miller continued her impressive freshman campaign with 17 kills and 9 digs. Another freshman, Tanya Alvino let the offense with 50 assists. Sophomore Caitlin Dowd added 10 kills in defeat.
Lauren Bayer led the way for UH-Hilo with 21 kills on a .417 hitting percentage.
The Vulcans out dug CUH 57-46.
The loss moves the Silverswords to 9-6, 2-5 in the Pac West, while UH-Hilo moves to 17-5, 8-0 in Pac West play.
Chaminade looks to get back on track this week as they face Grand Canyon on Tuesday night. First serve is set for 7:30 PM HT.
