Honolulu, HI- What a match. In an early season battle between two Pacific Region contenders, Chaminade came out on top in five games 30-27, 24-30, 30-17, 30-32, 15-13 over Northwest Nazarene University.
Freshman outside Samantha Miller was again dominant with 26 kills, tops amongst five Swords who finished with double digit kills. Miller also added 17 digs. Three Lady Swords contributed 10 kills (Sapolu, Bluthenthal and Radanovic). Tanya Alvino led CUH with 56 assists to go along with 13 digs, while Krista Catian led the way with 21 digs for Chaminade. Junior Trina Kauliakamoa added 14 kills and 15 digs.
The match proved to be as close as the team's hitting percentages, with Chaminade managing the slightest of edges .169 to NNU's .168.
Northwest Nazarene's Lindsay Forseth was all everything for the Crusaders, accounting for 21 kills and 30 digs on the evening. Allison James added 41 assists on the match.
With the win Chaminade moves to7-1 on the year, Northwest Nazarene moves to 6-2.
The Lady Swords are off until September 21st against Hawaii Pacific. Chaminade plays their rival at 7:30 PM in McCabe Gym.
