Honolulu, HI- A rivalry match. Every game was close, every point contested. Chaminade was on the right end however, winning in four games, 32-30, 30-28, 26-30 and 30-28 in the win.
The Lady Swords showed tenaciousness in game one, winning the game despite being outhit .361 to .302.
Hawaii Pacific did not give up, after Chaminade won the second game, HPU came roaring back behind the hard hitting of Antje Buskies (18 kills) and Kelly Balanay (15 kills). It was not enough as Chaminade simply had too many weapons. Four Swords had double figure kills, led by freshman outside, Samantha Miller (16 kills and 12 digs). All-league performer Trina Kauliakamoa added 12 kills and 15 digs.
Chaminade wrapped things up in the fourth game with there best attacking of the night, out-hitting HPU .306 to .128. Tanya Alvino helped out in a big way, providing 44 assists.
Returnees Vanja Radanovic (14 kills, .407 hitting %) and Evelyn Bluthenthal (12 kills, .346 hitting %) also had big nights for the Lady Swords.
With the win Chaminade moves to 8-1 on the year, Hawaii Pacific moves to 5-7.
The Lady Swords are off to Laie to face BYU-Hawaii tomorrow night. Match time is 7:30 PM at the Cannon Center.
