Final Stats
Honolulu, HI- Chaminade is a force to reckon with, unfortunately so are the Vulcans of UH-Hilo. The Lady Swords came out hot, dominating game one, winning 30-21, but UH-Hilo won the next three for the win.
The first game was all Chaminade, but the second game was all Vulcans as UH-Hilo led by Josimara Pinheiro (17 kills, 15 digs) and Hillary Hurley (18 kills) won 30-15. Game three was UHH as well, by a score of 30-24.
With UH-Hilo up 2 games to 1, game four was a battle, as Evelyn Bluthenthal continued to fight off sickness, registering 14 kills on a .524 attack percentage. UH-Hilo won the closely contested fourth game 30-26 for the victory.
Vanja Radanovic was impressive for CUH, with 14 kills in defeat. Defensively, Chantelle Maduli and Samantha Miller each had 11 digs, while Tanya Alvino added 36 assists.
The loss moves the Silverswords to 8-3, 1-2 in the Pac West, while UH-Hilo moves to 9-4, 3-0 in Pac West play.
The Lady Swords despite the loss are off to a solid start.
Chaminade looks to get back on track this weekend as they face Hawaii Pacific tomorrow night. Match time is 7:30 PM at the Blaisdell Arena.
