Honolulu, HI- The Swords bounced back today with a win over the Ichabods of Washburn in the Hoop n Surf Classic.
The Swords shot 46% from the field and 40 % from three. Junior forward Rickey Clayborn led the way with 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds for the Silverswords. Five players scored in double-figures. Darrell Birton and Joel Smith each added 14 points, with Smith adding 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks to his totals.
Point guard Noah Gottlieb, led the way with 6 assists to go along with 6 rebounds and 17 points. Jamar Berry also added 10 points and 7 rebounds. The Swords tied the Ichabods on the glass 44-44.
Chaminade was stout defensively, holding WU to 35% shooting from the floor.
DeAndre Eggins led the Ichabods with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Darnell Kimble had a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Chaminade moves to 2-5 on the year. Washburn falls to 7-3. The Swords play again on Friday against Dominican (NY) on December 19th at McCabe. Game time is set for 7:30 PM HT.
