Laie, HI- Chaminade traveled yesterday afternoon to Laie, HI where they took on the Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific University. Despite playing hard all game and never giving up, they ended up losing 91 to 57. Chaminade struggled against HPU, shooting about 29% from the floor and they also had 30 turnovers.
Freshman Jamie Higa had a team high 12 points and sophomore Kaci Will added 11 points and grabbed 7 boards for the Swords. Senior point guard, Samantha Saito dished out 7 assists to go along with her 9 points.
Chaminade was out rebounded by an extremely large margin, 52 to 33. Chaminade shot well from the charity line. They made 24 of the 36 shots they took, shooting 67%.
Hawaii Pacific was the led by Jazzmin Awa-Williams who had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Mana Hopkins recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds for the Sea Warriors.
With the loss the Silverswords fall to 0-1 overall while HPU improves their record to 1-2 overall. The Silverswords next game is against UH- Hilo, November 28th @ 3:00PM Laie, HI. This is game for the Swords, is the conclusion of the 2009 Hawaii Women's Basketball Tournament @ BYU Hawaii.
