WBB: Swords Lose Battle with Cornell College 67 to 58

Honolulu HI- Chaminade took floor tonight against the Rams of Cornell College despite having three key players missing in action, the Swords managed to play well for most of the game. At halftime the Swords were up 30 to 29.

Head Coach Christina Apisa's thoughts on the game, “We were lazy during the second half, when it was crucial to pick up our intensity. There is no excuse for this loss. Cornell exploited this weakness in the second half and I commend them for their hard work!”

Junior Kayci Will scored a team high 19 points and grabbed 10 boards on 37 minutes of playing time. Lynette Dalle added 10 points and 3 boards of her own. While senior point guard, Samantha Saito added 11 points for Chaminade.

The Swords Achilles heel this season has proved to be their inability to play 40 minutes of basketball well. In the first half they shot relatively well, connecting on 43% on the shots they took. However, during the second half they shot just 23% from the floor. As a team they shot 31% from the floor all game, compared to Cornell College's 55% from the floor and 56% from three point land. The Lady Swords were out rebounded 41 to 28.

Cornell College's Camille Marie-Lidd scored a team high 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Brooke Craig also added 15 points of her own, shooting 50% from three point land. She took eight shots; two of four makes came in the last 5 minutes of the game ending all hopes of a Silversword victory.  

With the loss Chaminade falls to 1-5 overall, while Cornell College improves their record to 6-6 overall. The Silverswords next game is against nationally ranked University of Alaska @ Anchorage, who are currently # 9 in the latest Division 2 poll released. They play tomorrow night (December 30th) at McCabe Gym, tip off is set for 5:30PM HST.
