Phoenix, AZ – Chaminade senior golfer Layne Morita (Kapaa, HI/Kauai HS) has recently been named the Pac West Men's Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year. Morita, who carries a 3.7 cumulative GPA in History and Political Studies, also excels for the Swords on the course.
A Second Team All Pac West Men's Golf Selection in 2009, Morita had a stellar junior year for the Swords. He carded two first place finishes along with three runner-ups over Chaminade's 10 match season. The Kauai High School graduate finished the season with a 10th place finish at the Pac West Championships at the Roddy Ranch G.C. in Brentwood, CA. Morita carded a 219 over three rounds just four strokes off the champion.
