Chinese Philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” The 2010 -11 Lady Swords Women's Basketball began the season this afternoon against the Adams State College Grizzlies. They lost by a score of 42 to 55.

This game against the Grizzlies was the first NCAA collegiate game for new head coach, Bobby Keanini. In fact, five of the thirteen players on the CUH roster this year, also made their collegiate debut. Kristen Canencia, Rachael Rickard, Jordan Ahakuelo,Natasha Kealoha and Markeshia Manning all competed in their first collegiate basketball games.

Chaminade was led by freshman Markeshia Manning who scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and freshman Jordan Ahakuelo added 10 and 9 boards.

Adams State was led by Kelsie Kruger who scored 14 points and grabbed 9 boards.

The Lady Swords lost the rebounding battle, 59 to 33. Both teams struggled a bit shooting the ball from the floor, Adams State shot just 29% and CUH shot 27% on the afternoon.

Despite starting off the season with a loss, the Chaminade 23 game season journey is far from over. The upcoming season looks bright for the Lady Swords under the direction of Coach Bobby Keanini. The Swords travel to Washington to play in three games and do not return home until December 4th when they take the UH- Hilo at 2:00PM.

With the loss Chaminade falls to 0-1 on the year, while Adams State College improves their record to 1-1 on the year.
