Chaminade Takes Down Western New Mexico 81-70

Three Swords score in double figures

Honolulu, HI- Chaminade took on the Mustangs of Western New Mexico and won 81-70 on the evening. 
 
The Swords went up early on, but the Mustangs came back, and were only down 37-35 at the break. Senior Steven Bennett (Los Angeles, CA/Dorsey) had 24 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds and junior Mamadou Diarra (Bamako, Mali/Stoneridge) had 22 points, 11 rebounds in the win. Nine Swords scored, and nine Chaminade players played 10 minutes or more. 
 
Western New Mexico was led by Jeron McIntosh with 18 points. 
 
Chaminade connected on nine three pointers as Shane Hanson went 5-6 from three for 15 points. The Swords out-rebounded WNMU 41-25. De'Andre Haskins (Long Beach, CA/Jordan) added 8 points and Rashaad Ubah (Riverside, CA/King) contributed 5 rebounds in the win. The Swords shot 51% from the floor.         
 
The Swords go to 3-0 on the year and face Michigan State on November 22 at 4:30 PM HT on ESPNU. Western New Mexico falls to 0-2 on the year.
