Lahaina, HI –The Silverswords of Chaminade played their second game in the 2010 EA Sports Maui Invitational today against the Shockers of Wichita State and fell 79 to 58. Two players were in double digits:
Steven Bennett (Los Angeles, CA / Dorsey and
Chris Curtis (Tustin, CA / Tustin) and Sophomore
Dominique Cooks (Wollongong, AUS / Holy Spirit College) added 7 minutes.
Steven Bennett went 5 for 12 from the floor and 1 for 3 from behind the arch, while
Chris Curtis only missed one shot, a three pointer. He went 4 for 5 on the day and connected on 3 of 4 shots from behind the arch.
Dominique Cooks was perfect from behind the arch, connecting on 2 of 2 shots.
CUH shot an impressive 40% from the floor through however; WSU connected on 52% and out they also out-rebounded the Silverswords 43 to 23.
David Kyles had an impressive night; he shot 8 for 13 from the floor on the night. He went 3 for 7 from the floor and ended up with 19 points with 30 minutes of playing time.
CUH was a little slow out of the gate and by the 13th minute of the first half they were twelve and could not recover, WSU held the lead for the rest of the game, despite a valiant Silversword effort.
The Silverswords will take on Sooners of Oklahoma tomorrow at 9:00AM HST in the third day of the EA Sports Maui Invitational. With the loss, CUH falls to 3-2 overall and WSU improves their record to 2-1.
