CUH WBB: Lady Swords fall to UH-Hilo 60 to 53

Honolulu, HI – Confucius once said, “Our greatest glory is not in never failing but in rising every time we fall.” The Lady Swords took on the Vulcans of UH Hilo this afternoon in McCabe Gym and fell by a score of 60 to 53. Rachael Rickard scored a team high 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in defeat.

Rachael Rickard shot 6 for 13 from the floor and played 35 minutes. She connected on 4 of 5 shots from behind the arch.  Jordan Ahakuelo added 9 points and 8 rebounds for CUH. She also played 35 minutes for the Lady Swords.

The Swords trailed by 10 at the half and at one point during the game cut the lead to 5 points; however, despite great effort they were never able to take the lead throughout the course of the game.

CUH was outrebounded 46 to 28. CUH also struggled from the free throw line; shooting 53% compared to the Vulcans 73%.

UH Hilo was led by Elizabeth Hurley, who had 18 points and grabbed 14 points on 26 minutes of playing time.

With the loss, CUH falls to 0-5 on the year, while UHH improves their record to 2-3 on the year. The Lady Swords next game is on December 17th against University of Alaska @ Anchorage in Anchorage, Alaska. Tipoff is set for 7:00PM local time.
