Honolulu, HI – The Lady Swords came out fighting against the Red Storm of Dixie State tonight, however, despite their efforts they ended up losing 76 to 54. At the break however, CUH was only down one point, 23 to 22. BoxScore
Both teams shot for very low percentages in the first half, The Lady Swords shot 28% and the Red Storm shot just 25%. Both teams had good looks at the basket; however, it was one of those nights where the buckets were not falling. The Red Storm made serious halftime adjustments and came out firing on all cylinders; they ended up shooting 48% from the floor and 38% from beyond the arch. While CUH shot just 36% and missed all 5 of three point shots they took. While Chaminade ended up with a shooting percentage of 14% from three point land for the entire game.
The Lady Swords were out rebounded by an extremely large margin of 60 to 37. The loss of Kayci Will to injury, has proven to really hurt their get second chance opportunities. Like last week, Chaminade was forced to play with a 3 guard set and will continue to do so as Kayci Wil is out for the remainder of the season.
Brittany Bridges led the Lady Swords with 13 points and freshman guard, Jamie Higa contributed with 11 points of her own. Samantha Saito and Kellene Costello each added 8 points in defeat.
The Lady Swords next take on the Antelopes of Grand Canyon on February 18th. Tip off for this game is at 5:30PM HST at McCabe Gym.
With the loss CUH falls to 1-17 overall and 0-10 in the PacWest, while Dixie State improves their record to 12-7 overall and 8-2 in the PacWest.
