Honolulu, HI – The Lady Swords took on the Penguins of Dominican University tonight and lost a really close game, falling 72 to 64. With 1:36 to go in the game CUH turned the ball over on a shot clock violation and also Dominican hit 7 free throw shots in the last minute of play.
Chamainde headed into the half trailing only by five points, 42 to 37. They shot an incredible 59% from the floor, 29% from 3 point land and 60% from the charity line.
Megan Kamehiro led the Swords with 16 points and Samantha Saito added 10 points and 3 assists. Chaminade nearly won the rebounding battle as they grabbed 35 to the Penguins 37. Also, one element which proved to really hurt was their 29% shooting from the floor during the second half and their inability to connect on one three point shot, they missed five in the second half.
Vince Lombardi once said. “It's easy to have faith in yourself and have discipline when you're a winner, when you're number one. What you got to have is faith and discipline when you're not a winner.” He also said, “It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up.” The Swords have dropped 13 straight games since beating BYU- Hawaii on December 15th, 2009. How they respond after losing such a close game should determine a lot of things.. Their character, their desire and willingness to do whatever it takes to get secure another W this season. They will get their chance at BYU Hawaii again this coming Friday on the North Shore of Hawaii. Tip off is set for 5:30PM HST.
With the loss CUH falls to 1-15 overall, while Dominican improves their record to 5-14 overall.
