San Rafael Ca – The Lady Swords concluded their mainland road trip tonight with a loss to the Penguins of Dominican University. They fell 90 to 60, Samantha Saito led all scorers with 14 points, and Brittany Bridges also posted 13 points of her own in the loss. BoxScore.
All things considered CUH played well, however the Penguins wouldn't be denied a win on their senior night in front of 261 of screaming fans. Chaminade shot the ball well for the entire game, they shot 39%, however, DU shot “lights out” from the floor, they shot 50% and as a result pulled away from the Lady Swords. At the half, the score was 48 to 24.
Samantha Saito scored 14 points; Brittany Bridges added 13 and Julianne Nomura rounded out the Lady Swords with 7 points of her own. CUH shot well from the charity line, 12 for 16 for an impressive 75% however, from behind the arch they shot just 18% which in the end really hurt. Looking at the Penguins Dominican stats, they shot 48% from three point land and 65% from the charity line.
Chaminade can hold their heads high, there is nothing you can do as team plays like DU did tonight. They did what any would have done, they never gave up.. And as loyal Silversword fans that is all we can ask of them.
Dominican University was led by Alisha Flaaten, she scored 24 points in her final game of her collegiate career. She also grabbed 5 rebounds.
The Swords conclude their season against UH-Hilo on March 8th , 2010 at UH Hilo. Tipoff is set for 5:30PM HST. With the loss tonight CUH falls to 1-22 overall, while DU improves their record to 7-20 overall.
