CUH MBB: Swords Downed at GCU 66-57

Diarra leads with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks

PHOENIX, AZ- A classic back and forth Pac West battle went Grand Canyon's way tonight, defeating the Swords 66-57. Chaminade struggled to get going, committing 12 turnovers in the first half, but found themselves down only 5 at the break.documents/2011/1/28/cuh-gcum.htm

Chaminade stormed in front in the second half, and the game was tight the rest of the way. The Swords got an impressive performance from junior Mamadou Diarra (Bamako, Mali/Stoneridge), scoring 17 points, corralling 10 boards and blocking 5 shots in defeat.

Shane Hanson and Steven Bennett added 10 points respectively for the Swords. 
Chaminade shot 39% from the floor, GCU 42%.

Rony Tchatchoua led the 'Lopes with 13 points. 
The Swords fall to 11-6, 4-1 in the Pac West. Grand Canyon improves to 9-6, 4-1 in conference. Chaminade heads to Dixie State to face the Red Storm on Saturday night at 7:30 PM MT.
