Phoenix, AZ – The Lady Swords took on the 12th ranked Grand Canyon University Antelopes tonight in Phoenix, despite battling hard throughout Chaminade fell by a score of 105 to 36.
Chaminade started out of the gate very strong; however, the Antelopes scored 52 point s to the Lady Swords 12 in the second half. CUH shot just 27% from the floor, Freshman
Jordan Ahakuelo , (Pearl City, HI/ Pearl City), led the team with 10 points and 5 boards.
At the half, the Lady Swords trailed the Antelopes of Grand Canyon University 24 to 52; they shot just 37% from the floor. CUH came out in the second half, totally flat, connecting on just
Grand Canyon led the game 80 to 27 with 10:48 left in the game, despite trailing by a large amount the Lady Swords never gave up and continued to battle until the final buzzer.
Chaminade lost the rebounding battle 49 to 17.
The Lady Swords had no answer for the Antelopes 5'8, Rosalyn Nelson (Phoenix, AZ), who posted 24 points and 4 boards in tonight's Pacific West Conference match.
The Lady Swords next basketball game is January 29h, in St, George, Utah against fellow PACWEST member, Dixie State College. With the loss Chaminade falls to 1-11 on the year and 1-4 in the PacWest. While the 12th ranked Grand Canyon University Antelopes; improve to 16-2 overall and 4-1 in the PacWest Conference. Tip off for Dixie State College is set for 5:00PM MST.
