CUH WBB: Swords Suffer Setback to #10 Alaska-Anchorage 100-45

Box Score HONOLULU, HI – The Lady Swords fell to Alaska Anchorage this evening 100-45 in a PacWest/GNAC clash in McCabe Gym.  The Seawolves jumped out to 9-0 lead within two minutes of action and didn't look back.
 
The Swords got off to a slow start offensively; trailing 27-2 with 11:55 left in the first half.  The Swords cut the lead to 34-13 before an 11-2 UAA run made it 45-13 with 5:29 left in the first half.  Alaska-Anchorage led at the half 52-16.
 
CUH shot 5-23 from the floor, good for 22%, while the Seawolves shot 55% from the field and a red-hot 88% (7-8) from three in the opening twenty minutes. 
 
Chaminade's competitive spirit never waned, but UAA was too much.  Midway through the second half, the Swords trailed Alaska-Anchorage by a score of 76-27. Ten Seawolves scored in the 100-45 final. 
 
Junior guard Nikki Tauau (Oxnard, CA/Pacifica) led Chaminade with 12 points and 6 rebounds.  Fellow junior Dianna Zane (Honolulu, HI /Roosevelt) added 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals in defeat.
 
Chaminade lost the battle of the boards 49-27.  CUH shot 23% from the floor, 18% from three on the game.  Alaska-Anchorage shot 57% from the floor and 67% (12-18) from three. 
   
The Seawolves were led by Bruna Deichmann with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the win.  UAA out-rebounded CUH 49-27.
 
Chaminade is back in action tomorrow for the second of two games against Alaska-Anchorage.  Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
 
The Swords move to 0-4 on the year, while Alaska-Anchorage moves to 8-2.
