CUH WBB: Swords Dropped by #10 Seawolves 91-47

Ahakuelo leads with 10 points

Box Score HONOLULU, HI – The Lady Swords fell to Alaska Anchorage this evening 91-47 in their second PacWest/GNAC clash in as many days.  The Swords got off to a slow start offensively and were down 14-0 early on to the Seawolves.
 
Chaminade cut the lead to as little as five, but UAA answered the Chaminade rally and led by twenty-five at the break, 45-20.  The Swords did damage from behind the arc, as twelve of Chaminade's twenty first-half points were from deep. CUH shot 40% from long distance in the first twenty minutes. The Swords added three more three's in the second half for a total of seven.
 
CUH shot 7-23 from the floor in the first half, good for 30%, while the Seawolves shot 51% from the field, scoring twenty baskets in the first half. 
 
Chaminade continued to battle in the second half, but the Seawolves did as well.  Anchorage led 67-33 with ten minutes remaining in the contest.  UAA won 91-47. 
 
Sophomore guard Jordan Ahakuelo (Pearl City, HI/Pearl City) led the Swords with 10 points. Junior point guard Dianna Zane (Honolulu, HI /Roosevelt) added 5 points, 4 assists while junior guard Nikki Tauau (Oxnard, CA/Pacifica) added 7 points and 3 rebounds.  Sophomore guard Glacen Florita (Ewa Beach, HI/Pearl City) added 8 points in defeat.
 
Chaminade shot 29% from the floor.  Alaska-Anchorage shot 55% from the floor.  The Swords did a better job guarding the arc, as UAA shot 20% from three (67% last night). 
 
UAA were led by Haley Holmstead and Kaylie Robison with 16 points each.  The bigger Seawolves took advantage on the glass, out-rebounding CUH 50-24.
 
Chaminade is back in action on Friday against Montana State Billings. Tip is set for 5:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
 
The Swords move to 0-5 on the year, while Alaska-Anchorage moves to 9-2.
