BELMONT, CA- The Swords defeated the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur tonight 55-46 in Pac West Conference action.
The game was played in the half court for long stretches of the game and was a low scoring affair because of it. Chaminade was stout on the defensive end, holding the Argos to just 26% shooting. The Swords never trailed in the game, going up 4-0 in the opening minutes and didn't look back.
Chaminade led 24-17 at the break. CUH took an eleven point lead with 10:47 left in the second half and weren't seriously threatened down the stretch.
The Swords got another solid performance from junior
Mamadou Diarra (Bamako, Mali/Stoneridge), scoring 6 points, corralling 11 boards and blocking 3 shots in the win.
Senior
Steven Bennett (Los Angeles, CA/Dorsey) added 16 points and 5 rebounds for the Swords, while junior De'Andre Haskins (Long Beach, CA/Jordan) tallied 12 points in the win. Junior
Chris Curtis (Tustin, CA/Tustin) added 7 points in the win. Eight Swords scored in the victory.
Jeff Ford led the Argos with 12 points.
The Swords move to 15-7, 8-2 in the Pac West. NDNU falls to 4-17, 2-9 in conference. Chaminade faces Academy of Art at Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco on Thursday, Feb. 17th at 7:30 PM PT.
