Belmont, CA – The Lady Swords took on the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur tonight and fell by a score of 71 to 58, despite the loss, the Lady Sword faithful and the team should hold their heads up high, they fought hard until the final buzzer of play.
Chaminade was led by Freshman
Jordan Ahakuelo, she led the team with 19 points and 6 rebounds.
Junior
Kayci Will, also contributed with 12 points and 6 boards. Sophomore
Jamie Higa, rounded out the Lady Swords of Chaminade University with 8 points.
The Lady Swords shot an impressive 42% from the floor and the Argos of Notre Dame de Namur shot 40% Unfortunately, CUH got down early and could never quite regain the lead, although as the stats indicate, this was a battle between two PACWEST teams in Belmont, California.
The Argonauts leading scorer was Emily Vore, she scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. She shot 10 for 11 from the charity line. Lindsey Foster also contributed for the Argonauts; she added 12 points and 4 rebounds and she shot an impressive, 6 for 10 from the floor.
Chaminade lost the rebounding battle 33 to 41. NDNU committed 20 turnovers to the Lady Swords 26.
NDNU shot an impressive 70% from the charity line, connecting on 19 of 27 shots. CUH on the other hand, also shot well, connecting on 56% their shots, going 13 for 23. However, the 19 makes for the Argos proved to be very costly, as the Lady Swords lost this game by 13 points.
With the loss Chaminade falls to 1-16 on the year and 1-9 in the PacWest. The Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur improves to 8-12 overall and 5-6 overall in the PacWest Conference. The Lady Swords continue their road trip for the next two games, with Academy of Art University and Dominican University. The Lady Swords next game is against Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. Tipoff is set for 5:30PM PST, February 17th 2010.
