Rafael, CA – The Lady Swords battled tonight against Dominican University, despite a hard fought battle for 40 minutes, they ended up losing by 14 points. The last time these teams squared off, CUH won, however, turnovers tonight prevented the Lady Swords from tasting victory once again this season.
The Achilles heel for Chaminade all season long has been their field goal shooting percentage, however, this game the Lady Swords shot well during tonight's 40 minutes of play, they shot 43% as a team. While Penguins of DU, shot 41% for the game.
The Penguins had three players in double digits; Raquel Gomes and Stephanie Carnes each had 15 points and Kelsey Janusch rounded out Dominican with 11 points.
Dominican shot an impressive 61% from the charity line, connecting on 11 of 18 shots. CUH on the other hand, also shot well, connecting on 75 their shots, going 9 for 12. Chaminade won the rebounding battle 38 to 32. The Lady Swords turned over the ball 35 times, compared to the Penguins 18.
With the loss Chaminade falls to 1-18 on the year and 1-11 in the PacWest. The Penguins of Dominican University improve to 7-17 overall and 5-9 overall in the PacWest Conference. The Lady Swords return home to the islands tomorrow and play Hawai'i Pacific University on February 25th at McCabe Gym. Tipoff is set 5:00PM.
