Box Score HILO, HI- The Silverswords opened their 2012-13 season on the road, taking on the Vulcans of UH-Hilo and falling 90-62 in a non-conference affair.
 
Chaminade was close midway through the first half. CUH was trailing by 10 points at 20-10 following a jumper by 
Rhani Kaneaiakala (Waimanalo, HI / Kamehameha-Kapalama) off an assist by senior point guard 
Dianna Zane (Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt).  The Vulcans managed to extend the lead later in the half, and went in to the break with a 42-23 advantage. 
 
UH-Hilo extended the lead to thirty points at 60-30 just over five minutes into the second half and won the contest 90-62.  Chaminade shot 35% from the floor, 27% from three and 59% from the free throw line.  The Swords were out-rebounded by the Vulcans 47-37.  Kaneaiakala led CUH with 12 points and 9 rebounds.  Freshman guard 
Sabrina Angle (Pearl City, HI/Pearl City) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in defeat. 
 
Hilo was led by Jazzmyn Davis with 16 points on the afternoon. 
Coach Keanini commented on the performance: "Hilo is tough.  They do it all and very well-coached.  We were flat, but the positive side is we have alot of correctable things to work on."
 
With the loss Chaminade falls to 0-1.  UH-Hilo moves to 1-0 on the year. The Swords take on Adams State in the 2012 Oahu Classic on Thursday, November 22ndat McKinley HS in Honolulu, HI.  Tip is set for 6:00 PM HT.
