Haskins leads Chaminade with 22 points, 6 rebounds

Box Score LAHAINA, HI– Chaminade ran into an angry and hot-shooting Tar Heels team today in the third-place game of the 2012 EA Sports Maui Invitational televised on ESPN2.  UNC was red-hot from the arc, knocking down 9 of 12 three-point attempts in the first half en route to a 62-33 halftime lead.    
 
Chaminade senior De'Andre Haskins (Long Beach, CA/Jordan) was stellar again for Chaminade and it started from the outset.  With UNC keying on the 6'4 senior after knowing that Haskins came into the contest leading the tournament in scoring, Haskins still managed to score nine points within the first 114 seconds of the contest.  Haskins again led the Swords in both points and rebounds, tallying 22 points and corralling 6 rebounds. 
 
The Silverswords battled in the second half, but the Tar Heels enjoyed a comfortable lead throughout the final twenty minutes.  Eleven Swords saw action in the contest.  Senior Bennie Murray (Fairfield, CA/ Will C. Wood) added 15 points in the defeat while guard Lee Bailey (Detroit, MI/Detroit Country Day added 10 points in 28 minutes of action. Junior forward Rhys Murphy (Sydney, Australia/Barker) added 9 points on three of six shooting from three.  
 
UNC shot 62% from the floor and out-rebounded CUH 41-32. 
 
North Carolina was led by James Michael McAdoo with 18 points.
 
Chaminade is back in action on December 3rd in PacWest Conference action.  The Swords will face Dixie State at 7:30 PM MT in St. George, UT at Burns Arena.
