CUH WBB: Cal Baptist Takes Down Chaminade 105-44

Box Score RIVERSIDE, CA – CUH lost to the Lancers of Cal Baptist on the road tonight 105-44 in a PacWest Conference matchup.
 
The Swords struggled offensively in the first half, falling behind 18-2 with 13:48 left in the opening half.  CBU continued their red-hot scoring in the first half, leading 58-11 at the half.  The Lancers shot 63% in the half and held Chaminade to 15%.
 
Cal Baptist continued their hot shooting and Chaminade struggled against a swarming CBU defense in the second half, falling to the Lancers, 105-44. 
 
Juniors Nikki Tauau (Oxnard, CA/Pacifica) and forward Rhani Kaneaiakala (Waimanalo, HI/Kamehameha) led Chaminade in scoring.  Tauau had 12 points and 4 rebounds, while Kaneaiakala added 8 points and 6 rebounds in defeat. 
 
Chaminade's Jordan Ahakuelo (Pearl City, HI/Pearl City) was held to six points in the loss. 
 
CUH shot 27% from the floor and Cal Baptist shot 56% on the contest.  The Swords made six threes in twenty-seven attempts (22%) in the loss. 
 
Coach Keanini commented: “Cal Baptist is a very talented team.  I'm proud that the team gave a great effort in the second half.”

The Lancers were led by Jasmine Beverly's double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Simone Holmes added 19 points in the CBU win. Cal Baptist won the battle on the glass 54-29.
 
Chaminade remains on the road for PacWest action on Feb. 22nd at Grand Canyon. Tip is set for 4:30 PM MT in Phoenix, AZ.
 
The Swords are now 1-19, 1-13 PWC on the year, while CBU improves to 19-4, 12-3 PWC.
