Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade lost to Hawaii Pacific x-x this evening in a PacWest Conference road matchup at Moanalua High School.
HPU got up double digits early on (14-2) following a three-point play Skye Savini with 14:02 remaining in the first half of action. The Chaminade offense slowly got going, but the Sea Warriors held on to their lead at halftime, owning a sixteen point advantage at the break, 38-22. The Sea Warriors had a significant advantage on the glass, out-rebounding Chaminade 33-20 in the first half.
HPU quickly opened up a 23 point lead just three minutes into the second half, 52-29. Chaminade cut the lead to 13 points at 57-44 following a made three by
Sabrina Angle with 12:44 remaining, but could get no closer as HPU won the contest, 85-71.
The Silverswords shot 39% from the floor, while the Sea Warriors shot 48%. HPU out-rebounded Chaminade 53-30.
Dianna Zane led Chaminade in both points and rebounds, finishing with 22 points and 6 rebounds.
Sabrina Angle finished with 13 points, including three three's.
Coach Keanini commented on the contest: "We did a good job overall, but size and talent just beat us up. We are still learning to execute, but we're getting better. Our effort, as usual, was not a problem."
Hawaii Pacific was led by Susannah Walmsley with 24 points in the win.
With the defeat, Chaminade moves to 1-10, 1-4 PWC. Hawaii Pacific moves to 8-3, 4-1 PWC on the year. The Swords face Fresno Pacific on Saturday, January 19
