Box Score HONOLULU, HI- The Silverswords fell to the Sea Lions of Point Loma Nazarene 91-48 in a PacWest Conference contest in McCabe Gym.
The Swords battled early as Chaminade trailed the Sea Lions 8-6 with 15:16 left in the first half. Senior
Rhani Kaneaiakala (Waimanalo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) had four of Chaminade's first six points. Chaminade hustled to stay close, but Point Loma extended the lead to 36-21 at the half.
The Swords shot 33% for the half, while the Sea Lions shot 34% from the floor. PLNU made 12-17 free throw attempts on the half. Jessica Escorza led all scorers with 10 first half points.
Point Loma Nazarene extended the lead to start the second half and led 61-33 halfway through the final twenty minutes of action. The Sea Lions kept Chaminade at bay and won 91-48.
Junior
Markeshia Manning (Kapolei, HI/Pearl City) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in defeat for Chaminade. The Swords shot 39% from the floor while PLNU shot 48%. The Swords struggled with turnovers, committing 35.
Point Loma Nazarene was led by Jessica Escorza with 18 points.
With the defeat, Chaminade moves to 1-18, 1-13 PWC. With the win, Point Loma Nazarene moves to 12-10, 8-6 in the PWC on the year. The Swords face Cal Baptist on Saturday, February 16
th in McCabe Gym. Tip is set for 5:00 PM HT.
