WBB: Hawaii Pacific Defeats Swords 83-56

Kaneaiakala leads with 16 points, 10 rebounds on senior night

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- The Silverswords lost an intra-island battle to the Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific 83-56 in a PacWest Conference contest, and the final contest of the year for CUH this evening in McCabe Gym.
 
CUH senior Rhani Kaneaiakala (Waimanalo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) looked to keep the Swords close in the first half with inspired play, scoring 10 first half points to go along with 7 rebounds.  Hawaii Pacific led 41-25 at halftime.  CUH shot 31% in the half, but struggled with turnovers, committing 18.  HPU shot 50% in the half as Skye Savini led the Sea Warriors with 16 points.  The Silverswords did an excellent job on the glass, out-rebounding HPU 20-17 in the half. 
 
Hawaii Pacific stretched their lead in the second half, and led 61-35 with 11:39 remaining in the contest.  HPU won the contest 83-56.
 
The matchup marked the last contest in Chaminade uniforms for seniors Kaneaiakala as well as Nikki Tauau (Oxnard, CA/Pacifica) and injured point guard Dianna Zane (Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt). 
 
The 'Swords were led by Rhani Kaneaiakala with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Markeshia Manning (Kapolei, HI/Pearl City) added 8 points in the loss. 
 
Hawaii Pacific was led by with Skye Savini with 18 points.
 
With the defeat, Chaminade concludes the year at 1-22, 1-17 PWC.  With the win, Hawaii Pacific moves to 18-6, 14-4 in the PWC on the year.
