SAN FRANCISCO – The Chaminade University men's soccer team ended their final Mainland road game with a 5-0 loss to Academy of Art in a Pacific West Conference game Saturday at the City College of San Francisco Field.
The Silverswords fell to 3-10 overall and 2-7 in the PacWest. The Urban Knights are 5-9 and 3-5.
All five of ART U's goals came in the second half. Kristof Urbanyi accounted for two of them and later added an assist.
'Swords keeper
Rene Mejia made five saves on the day, but fell to 0-3 on the year. His Urban Knight's counterpart, Alejandro Escobedo, had two saves in improving his record to 4-5.
Chaminade attempted 11 shots on the day with
Nicolas Ferro attempting three.
Manuel Ibarra and
Jacob Muniz had one shot on-goal each for the 'Swords.
The Silverswords had a 9-3 advantage on corner kicks despite being out-shot, 22-11. The game's physicality was evident as both teams combined for 27 fouls, two yellow cards and a red card.
The 'Swords will next be in action next Saturday when they face Hawai'i Pacific in Kaneohe at 12:30 p.m.
