ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Chaminade University women's basketball ended the PacWest/GNAC Challenge with a 93-57 loss to Alaska-Anchorage Saturday at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
The Silverswords (0-2) were led by
Glacen Florita, who had 14 points.
Kristle Henry followed with 10 points followed by
Katie Buskey and
Sabrina Angle who had eight points each.
Kennedi Akana and Florita both pulled down seven rebounds while
Shana Kawakami dished out five assists. Kawakami also had six points and six boards.
The Seawolvers (2-0) were led by Alli Madison and KeKe Robertson who had 17 points each.
The Silverswords went toe-to-toe with the Seawolves for the game's opening five minutes as a Henry 3-pointer gave Chaminade a 10-6 lead. But the 'Swords went cold for the next seven minutes, being outscored 16-0 before Akana's putback got the Silverswords back on the board. The Seawolves continued to find the bottom of the net the rest of the half, taking a 44-20 halftime lead.
Chaminade was unable to make any ground in the second half, but managed to put up 37 second-half points. They were also able to pull down 40 rebounds and dish out 14 assists.
Chaminade will face St. Thomas Aquinas in the O'ahu Thanksgiving Classic on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The game will be played at St. Francis Gym.
