Silverswords Sweep Past Holy Names

HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team concluded their six-match home stand by running their winning streak to four after a convincing 25-17, 25-13, 25-15 win on Halloween night over Holy Names University at McCabe Gym.

The Silverswords, who improved to 13-10 overall and 7-7 in the Pacific West Conference, hit a season-high .337 in the victory with Kira Long leading the way with a match-high nine kills with a .571 attack percentage. Daisia LaBrie had eight kills without committing an error in 12 swings for a .667 hitting percentage. The 'Swords had 39 kills with only 10 errors on 86 total attacks.

Kim Spring, who earlier in the day was named PacWest Co-Player of the Week, had seven kills with Emma Tecklenburg and Cassie Rushlow each putting down five.

Natashya Enos led all players with 16 assists while Waihilo Chartrand had nine digs. Terezie Cernosek had three total blocks for Chaminade while Skyler Curry had three service aces.

The Hawks (1-22, 0-15 PacWest) were led by Heather Emory's seven kills.

The 45 total points allowed by the 'Swords is the least since surrendering 36 in a sweep of Felician College last September. The match also lasted only 69 minutes, the shortest match duration in a Silversword win since Sept. 2010 when they swept past Slippery Rock in 65 minutes.

Chaminade held Holy Names to a .098 hitting percentage and out-pointed the Hawks, 54-32.

The 'Swords are next in action Friday as they face BYU-Hawai'i at the Cannon Activities Center. It will be the 94th and final meeting between the two O'ahu rivals. Chaminade then returns to McCabe Gym for the final time this season Saturday as they take on Hawai'i Hilo on Senior Night.
