KEA`AU, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Hawai'i Hilo in a non-conference game Saturday at the Kamehameha-Hawai'i School Field.
Evan Bacani came off the bench and scored both goals for the Vulcans including the game-winner with just 12 seconds left in overtime.
Micah Mokulehua scored his second goal in as many games for the Silverswords who dropped to 0-2 on the season. Mokulehua found the back of the net on a pass from
Yoshinori Tamukai in the 13
th minute as the 'Swords opened the scoring.
Chaminade held the lead for the next 54 minutes but Bacani then squared the game with his first goal in the 67
th minute. The 'Swords had several chances to retake the lead but shots by
Jaewon Huh and Tamukai were off the mark as the game headed to overtime.
But Garma struck in the second extra session to give the Vulcans their first victory of the season, improving to 1-3.
UHH goalkeeper Joshua Jasper improved to 1-1 with the win while
Bernd Buescherhoff made four saves to take the loss. Tamukai took a team-high four shots for Chaminade.
The Silverswords will make their first Mainland trip of the season when they take on Fresno Pacific on Thursday.
