HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's soccer team wrapped up non-conference action with a 2-0 loss to Western Oregon on Sunday at Saint Louis Field.
Alyssa Tomasini scored twice for WOU to account for both the game's scores. Her first came at the 63-minute mark then got the clinching goal in the 80
th minute.
After a scoreless first half with both teams taking four shots, the Wolves (1-3) ramped up their attack with 10 second-half shots. The Silverswords (1-2) in the meantime were able to get off five shots in the final 45 minutes.
Western Oregon had 14 total shots, seven on-goal while Chaminade took nine with six on-goal.
The 'Swords had several scoring chances during the contest. One of their best chances in the first half was a shot by
Cami Keli'inui (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) that ricocheted off the crossbar in the 36
th minute.
Nicole Nishiki (Mililani, Hawai'i/Mililani) managed to get off two shots, both on target.
Caitlin Tatemichi (Honolulu/Roosevelt),
Kelli Fryxell (Kapolei, Hawai'i/Kapolei),
Caitlin Perry (Spokane, Wash./Kapolei) and
Cierra Toledo-Muragin (Hilo, Hawai'i/Waiakea) each got a shot on-goal for Chaminade.
Caitlin Kastelic earned the win for Western Oregon with six saves while
Brandee Lane (Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Castle) made five stops in suffering the loss.
The Silverswords open Pacific West Conference action on Thursday, Sept. 28 with they travel to St. George, Utah in their final meeting with Dixie State.
