HONOLULU – The Chaminade University men's soccer team played steady soccer Tuesday but ultimately suffered a 1-0 defeat to Concordia University Irvine at Saint Louis Field.
Concordia's Michael Oakson scored the game's lone goal coming in the 49th minute.
The Silverswords saw their two-game home winning streak snapped in falling to 3-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the Pacific West Conference.
The Eagles improved to 5-8 and 3-3 in the PacWest.
Chaminade freshman midfielder
Noah Mokulehua (Waimanalo, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kaiser) attempted half of the team's six shots and had the 'Swords' two shots on-goal. Five of their shots came in the second half following Oakson's goal.
Reece Hambly (Birmingham, England/Scottsdale CC/Hagley HS),
Jared Rivera (Union City, Calif./Ohlone CC/James Logan HS) and
Tyler Ebisuya (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Iolani) each attempted one shot.
'Swords goalkeeper
Michael Stafford (Honolulu/Iowa Western CC/Kalani HS) made seven saves on the afternoon.
Mackenzie Hutchins made two stops for Concordia.
The Silverswords return to the Saint Louis Field pitch for the final time this season on Saturday when they face Point Loma. The team will honor its seniors including
Jacob DeJesus (Union City, Calif./Ohlone College/James Logan HS) and
Jaewon Huh (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Aiea) following the game. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
