’Swords Edge ART U in Road Finale

SAN FRANCISCO – The Chaminade University men's soccer team ended their final road trip of the season Monday with a 1-0 win against Academy of Art at Paul Goode Field.

Freshman Noah Mokulehua (Waimanalo, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kaiser) scored the game's only goal in the 55th minute on a feed from Tyler Ebisuya (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i) to give the Silverswords their second straight win.

It's the second goal of the year for Mokulehua and Ebisuya's second assist.

Chaminade improved to 5-5-2 overall and 4-4-2 in the Pacific West Conference. ART U fell to 2-13-2 and 1-8-1 in the conference.

Despite being out-shot 18-4 in the first half, the 'Swords' defense persevered to keep the Urban Knights out of the net. Ten minutes into the second, Chaminade finally struck gold when Ebisuya chipped a shot over the Academy of Art defense where Mokulehua found the back of the net.

Mokulehua tied his older brother, Micah Mokulehua (Waimanalo, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kaiser) for the team lead in points with six.

Michael Stafford (Honolulu/Iowa Western CC/Kalani HS) recorded his third clean sheet of the season to earn the win. He made 10 saves in facing 23 ART U shots, five coming in the final 11 minutes as the Urban Knights made a furious attempt to square the contest. Kris Jensson took the loss for Academy of Art.

Reece Hambly (Birmingham, England/Scottsdale CC/Hagley HS) took three of the 'Swords' 11 shots, two on-goal.

Defenders Curtis Coburn (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach), Tasman Turner (Kailua, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Iolani), Lyric De Leon (Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Grand Canyon/Kapolei HS) and Jared Rivera (Union City, Calif./Ohlone College/James Logan HS) along with attackers Ebisuya and Lono Kaialau (Waianae, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Damien) played all 90 minutes.

The Silverswords wrap up the season Saturday against Hawai'i Pacific University at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium at 4:30 p.m. The annual battle against their intercity rival will count in the PacWest Hawai'i standings. A 'Swords win will give them a winning record for the first time in program history.
