HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's tennis team played in back-to-back days for the first time this season on Monday.
Facing the University of Hawai'i Hilo for a second time this season, the results for the Silverswords were the similar to Sunday's matchup against Dominican, falling 6-1 at the Donald A. Andrew Diamond Head Tennis Center.
However
Kayleen Lau (Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Maui) enjoyed her second consecutive singles victory, defeating the Vulcans' Carmelle Joyner in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), winning the second in a tiebreak, in No. 2 singles.
Tomomi Kohno (Tokyo, Japan/McKinely HS) was extremely competitive in her match in No. 4 singles before dropping a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Shelby Graber.
UH Hilo (2-4) took all three doubles matches to capture the doubles point.
Chaminade (0-6) will face the Vulcans again on Thursday at the DHTC, the third of five meetings between the two teams.
