HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's soccer team returned to their home pitch of Saint Louis Field for the first time in 10 days but dropped a 2-0 decision to Concordia University Irvine on Thursday.
The Silverswords were held to just one shot in the first half but put their attack in a higher gear with seven shots in the final 45 minutes.
Layla Comeaux had the game-winner for the Eagles, coming in the 37th minute. Carmany Jones provided an insurance goal in the 67th minute when her shot ricocheted off a Chaminade defender.
Randi Fontes (Wahiawa, O'ahu, Hawai'i/University of Hawai'i/Pearl City HS) had three of the 'Swords eight total shots, two of them were on-goal.
Breanna-Leigh Bactista (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani) and
Dayna Nishimura (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani) also had shots on-goal for Chaminade which fell to 3-4 on the year and 1-2 in the Pacific West Conference.
Naomi Takata (Honolulu/Pearl City) made four stops for the 'Swords as did her Concordia counterpart, Honolulu native Hailey Asato, a Punahou School graduate.
Chaminade fell to 3-4-0 on the year and 1-2-0 in the Pacific West Conference while Concordia improved to 3-3-2 and 2-0-0.
The Silverswords are back at Saint Louis Field Saturday when they host Biola. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
