TURLOCK, Calif. – The Chaminade University softball team was looking to make it three straight Ws to wrap up Day 2 of Saturday's Tournament of Champions.
However, host Stanislaus State had other ideas, topping the Silverswords, 3-2, at Warrior Field on the Stanislaus State campus. Earlier Saturday, the 'Swords had a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Cal State San Bernardino.
Stan State, who upset No. 1 Concordia University Irvine and handed the Eagles their first loss of the season Friday morning, plated three runs in the first inning. No other details were available.
Chaminade fell to 12-18 on the season.
The Silverswords will conclude their 18-day, 17-game road trip Sunday against No. 25 Chico State at Pedretti Sports Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Pacific (9:30 a.m. Hawai'i).
