GUNNISON, Colo. – The Chaminade University women's soccer team on Sunday completed their two-match trip to Colorado with a 1-1 draw to Fort Lewis College at Katy O. Rady Field on the Western Colorado University campus.
The tie was the second for the Silverswords this season, who are 1-0-2. The Skyhawks are now 2-0-2.
Delaney Buntin (Vail, Ariz./Pima CC/Cienega HS) scored her first career NCAA goal after the 'Swords fell behind 1-0 in the first half.
Chaminade, which defeated Fort Lewis last season, surrendered the first goal on a Hannah Paschke header in the 41st minute off a free kick.
Then in the 67th minute, Buntin, who had 14 goals last year at Pima Community College, fired a shot into the net from 25 yards out to knot the game.
Savannah Breeze Miranda (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Aiea) nearly put Chaminade ahead eight minutes later but her shot from the top of the box hit the crossbar.
The Skyhawks also had chances but
Naomi Takata (Honolulu/Pearl City) made both of her saves in the last 21 minutes to help preserve the draw.
Riley Brevin started the game in goal for Fort Lewis while Kaitlyn Rosenbaum played the second half, each making one save.
Kenna Kiefer (Vail, Ariz./Cienega) took four of Chaminade's 11 shots while Miranda and
Lily Leano (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist) each had two. The Skyhawks took eight shots at the net.
The Silverswords will return to the Saint Louis Field pitch on Thursday to face intercity rival Hawai'i Pacific University in a non-conference tilt at 12:30 p.m.
