HONOLULU – When the Chaminade University and Nobel University men's basketball teams met last December in the first-ever meeting between the two schools, the Silverswords hung 110 on them.
In Friday's exhibition meeting, which was also the 'Swords' home opener, they were five better in the second meeting, 115-80, over the Knights at McCabe Gymnasium.
Kent King (Washington, D.C./Vincennes University/Fork Union Military Academy) led a five-some of Silverswords to crack the double-digit scoring column with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor while all 11 'Swords scored.
Kent's twin brother,
Kris King (Washington, D.C./Vincennes University/Fork Union Military Academy), along with
Nathan Medina (Long Beach, Calif./Biola University/Valley Christian HS),
Brandon Haddock (Southlake, Texas/University of Utah/Carroll HS) and
Nate Sasser III (West Palm Beach, Fla./Casper College/Suncoast HS) all scored 16 points in the final exhibition game of the season.
Fletcher MacDonald (Wollongong, Australia/Lubbock Christian Univ./Newington College HS) contributed with nine points and nine rebounds with three blocked shots.
Nobel fell to 0-3 against NCAA competition, having also lost to CSUN on Nov. 3 and at Hawai'i Hilo on Wednesday.
Chaminade shot 53.8 percent from the floor and terrorized the Knights into 30 turnovers, recycling them into 41 points. They also held Nobel to 41.7 percent shooting on the evening. The 'Swords led, 66-38, at halftime.
Chaminade never trailed and built a 26-4 lead just five minutes in.
The game was slowed by 60 combined fouls with four players fouling out. The Knights attempted 39 free throws with 27 makes while the 'Swords were 32-of-42 from the charity stripe.
The Silverswords open the regular season on Saturday in the Alaska-Hawai'i Challenge in Anchorage, Alaska, against the University of Alaska. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. Hawai'i time.
